Some may be asking who The Dirty Projectors. Some may be saying "aren't they that band that released a video back in September?" The rest of us are hearing Paul Simon sing "Sound of Silence" right about now. Check out the newest song entitled "Little Bubble".
The video showcases frontman David Longstreth going through different environments all over the world. The use of lights and camera perspective is a quintessential DP video technique. The song itself is a beautiful ballad that you could play over and over. Its unique in the sense of that it doesn't build to anything, it just is.
For those of us who are new to the band, imagine Talking Heads meets New Order. It's this era of new-wave indie-rock that sets The Dirty Projectors apart since the early 2000's. They gained a lot of momentum in 2008 when they signed to Domino Records and in 2009 released their fifth full length record, "Bitta Orca" Since then, there have been two albums released collars with Bjork and David Byrnes (Talking Heads), and a short film called Hi Custodian, featuring songs many different albums and ep's. Check it out!
Things were quiet with the band over the past four years, until this past September when they released a song and video called "Keep Your Name". Now that there are two releases, maybe we will be seeing a release later this year? (fingers crossed). All I know is, I will have "Little Bubble" on repeat until their next release.
