Summer is finally fast approaching. The only thing that stands between us and summer is this last dreaded week of final exams. We're all very stressed out, exhausted and very ready for our summer break. Whether it be warm weather, reconnecting with friends or getting to see your dog again, we all have something to look forward to, a light at the end of the tunnel.
Summer is a great, relaxing time where we are less stressed and have more free time. There are four main ways that every college student spends their summer.
1. The sleeper
During the semester, it can be very hard to catch up on much-needed rest. With homework, projects, exam, a social life and so much more to juggle, getting five hours of sleep a night is sometimes lucky. Since they don't get sleep the whole semester, some college students sleep for 60 percent of a day or more. Gotta stock up on sleep sometime, right?
2. The traveler
Especially if you go to college in a small town like Clarion, being there all semester makes you want to get out and go explore new places. Some students use summer as their opportunity to go fulfill all of their adventure needs. Whether it be local trips to a river, park, or amusement park, or they get to explore a new state, or even new country, some students will use summer as their chance to see it all.
3. The one that's always with their friends.
Sometimes all you need is to reconnect with your old squad to have a fun summer. You might not go anywhere exciting, or even do anything extravagant, but it's enough to make for a great summer. If you and your friends go to school in completely different states, or just too far from home for regular reunions, going home and seeing them all summer is the best thing ever.Even if you're just watching TV together or playing card games, you're just happy to be reconnected. Whether you're never home, or they're always at your house, you and your old friends are inseparable.
4. The busy bee worker
While everyone is out having fun with their friends or seeing the world, some students have to dedicate their summers to their jobs. It can be hard to juggle a job on top of everything else the semester throws at you, so sometimes you have to work your summers away to save up for the upcoming school year. Being an adult sucks sometimes, this is one of those times. If you think about it though, three months of work for a somewhat easier semester doesn't seem like that bad of a trade off. Hopefully you have some days off where you can still enjoy the weather and catch up with old friends.
No matter how you spend your summer, I hope it's a good one. You've worked really hard all semester, and now it's finally time to kick back, relax and have some fun in the sun. Go eat some ice cream, take a dip in the pool and cuddle your pets you've missed for so long. You've earned it.
