Whether out of pure boredom, in response to your parents' persistant nagging or in a desperate attempt to come up with the funds to support your spending habits away at school, getting a summer job is inevitable. At this point in the summer, we've officially entered the vicious cycle that is work, get paid, spend paycheck, repeat. We've finally learned all of our coworkers names and can hold our own on the job. We've also picked up on the several different types of people we work with, such as...
1. The Scary Boss
This is the guy who is in charge that everyone takes orders from, without really knowing what his official title is. Regardless of what his position is, he is intimidating.
2. The Chill Boss
Every good summer job comes fully equipped with a chill boss. They are the ones that lighten the atmosphere and make approaching authority figures a little less frightening.
3. The Co-Worker No One Knows
This is the one that leaves you constantly asking yourself, "What's their name again?" You talk to them almost every day but the conversations are typically so dull that they leave an unmemorable impression.
4. The Co-Worker Everyone Knows
This co-worker is at the center of all of the work gossip and are responsible for a majority of the office drama. They've certainly made a name for themselves, and sometimes not for the best reasons.
5. The One Who Does It All
The One Who Does It All knows all of the ins and outs of the job and has probably been there for years. They're the ones who do all of the little stuff that keeps the entire system functioning in an efficient manner.
6. The Know It All
This is the worst type of co-worker to spend your summer with. They tend to be bossy and take way too much pride in their typically average work ethic. They think they know it all when in fact they really have no idea what they're doing.
7. The Friend
You started off as strangers but became friends throughout the course of job training. The Friend is the co-worker that makes coming to work every day slightly less miserable and serves as a constant reminder that all the long hours will pay off in the long run. Plus, who else would you gossip about office drama with?
Co-workers can be intimidating to approach, awkward to interact with and sometimes just downright difficult to handle. But regardless of whether you love them or hate them throughout the summer, they become your family, and you'll greet them with a smile each morning.
