The difference between simple and easy can be frustrating and it often goes unnoticed. People say things are easy regularly when things aren’t easy, they are simple. It’s simple when you know what to do, how to solve the problem, how to find the answer, what to say next, but that doesn’t mean the act or follow through is easy.
If the situation was easy we would have done it already, but sometimes the things with the simplest instructions are the hardest to do.
At a young age, we know the difference between simple and easy. We get into a fight and there is a simple fix to the problem, apologize, but we don’t want to be wrong, or have our pride harmed. It’s not easy to swallow our pride and apologize even though we know it is the simple fix.
In middle school its simple to do well in class; show up, participate, do your homework, and study for tests. The path to what we want is usually a simple path, but it isn’t easy. We have to go through, over, and around numerous obstacles. We know we will make it if we stay on the path, but the obstacles challenge us and is much harder to accomplish.
Knowing what to do is simple on principle, but it’s not easy. So many factors play into the simple formula and I stand in my own way of accomplishing my goals or obstacles that come up can deter me. A simple problem can be a hard problem, it is doable because we know the way, but the journey along the path isn’t always easy.
