As Whitney Houston states, learning to love yourself is "The Greatest Love Of All". Unfortunately, for most mere mortals such as ourselves, it's not always "easy to achieve".
There is a reason why people say that to love yourself rather than to like yourself. Liking something is easy, and actually, it isn't something you can control. For example, you can't help that you like watermelon, the color red, or a certain movie. And you can't help that you don't like someone, or a food, or a color, or whatever else. Liking something is natural, easy. Loving is not.
Loving is something you need to learn. You need to be shown and taught love before you can give it back to anyone else. And you need to love yourself before you can love others. It's a hard, hard journey that I think I have yet to complete. And I think the biggest learning curve was realizing that love doesn't happen overnight, and that it's fine if I'm still in progress. It doesn't mean that I can't be confident, or on the flip side, I have to be confident all of the time to love myself. Just as long as I know that I'm placing value into how I feel. I'm always continuously learning, so it only makes sense that I have to constantly learn how to love different parts of myself that I discover.
