Did you know?
Did you know how much I needed you?
Did you know that I was scared,
when I thought that I had found you-
then realized you weren't there.
Did you know that I ran to you?
Looking high and looking low.
The faster that I ran to you,
the slower I would go.
I sure did get tired.
There were times I refused to quit,
but looking back now-
I'm sure glad I did.
Because the second I stopped running,
and had nowhere else to go-
you ran up right beside me,
and asked me " Did you know?"
You said "Did you know that your eyes change?
To green and sometimes gold?"
"Did you know that when I look at them,
I see us growing old?"
"I see your heart's been broken
but see, look, so has mine.
No need to have that wall up
I'll love you right, just give me time."
As time went on you showed me,
what you were all about.
And the more I fell in love with you,
the sooner I lost my doubt.
So I wrote you this poem,
to look back on as we grow.
And show you how you rescued me,
when you didn't even know.
This poem is written for and dedicated to Mark Selcik. Out of all my many blessings- you're the best. Thanks for giving me the love of a lifetime.
