There is no doubt that 2018 has been one of the greatest years for the video game industry since the latest generation of home consoles were released back in 2013. This year has showcased major releases for games such as “Monster Hunter: World”, “Kirby Star Allies”, and “Sea of Thieves”. Luckily for gamers, the best has yet to come as games such as “God of War” and “Spider-Man” are being released this year. Amongst all the games that have yet to reach their 2018 release date, "Kingdom Hearts 3" has been anticipated the longest. Despite the fact that Square Enix has done their best to withhold a lot of details about “Kingdom Hearts 3”, the company is constantly reassuring us that the game will be hitting store shelves within the year.
“Kingdom Hearts” is a franchise that has been mesmerizing gamers for over 15 years. The game combines the Disney universe with the Universe of Final Fantasy, which is why the game has remained one of Square Enix’s top franchises all these years. There have been many iterations of the game released, however, we haven’t seen a major "Kingdom Hearts" release in over 13 years when "Kingdom Hearts 2" was released. While Square Enix has released numerous "Kingdom Hearts 3" trailer, the company has only received 2018 as a release window and has yet to confirm a definitive release date.
But after years of waiting, gamers may finally have the release date they have been waiting for.
According to the Know, the releases date for “Kingdom Hearts 3” may have been leaked on the target website on accident. Target listed the date of November 1, 2018, as the release of "Kingdom Hearts 3". This wouldn’t be the first time retail stores prematurely listed the release date of games that have yet to be released as games such as “God of War” and "Spider-Man” have both had possibly release dates leaked on retail store websites. There are even people who are claiming to have gotten their hands on early copies of “God of War”, which is supposed to release on April 20th this year. While it may easy to become excited about this possible release date, it should be noted that this is most likely just a placeholder date as November 1st fall on a Thursday this year and Video Games are typically released on Tuesdays.
With "Kingdom Hearts 3" being one of the most anticipated games in recent years, their amount of hype surrounding the game continues to grow as we come closer to the end of the 2018 release window. Even if the November 1st date Target labeled as the release date for "Kingdom Hearts 3" is merely a placeholder date, we should assume that Target knows something that we don’t and expect "Kingdom Hearts 3" to release sometime around November 1st. Odds are Square Enix will confirm a release date during this years E3 gaming convention. Fans of the "Kingdom Hearts" must sit tight for only a few more months and the years and years of waiting will finally be over.
