5 Reasons Being Snowed In With Your Best Friends Is The Best

Did anyone else get a lot of snow?

I don't know about you but I think that winter is the prettiest season. Okay, I'm kidding. Fall is the prettiest season... but nothing can beat being snowed in with your best friends.

Where I'm from, Mr. Jonas (the snowstorm, not Nick Jonas, unfortunately) made his appearance on Thursday in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Mr. Jonas got us all out of class on Friday, which was the perfect start to a weekend with the girls.

Here is my list of ive reasons why getting snowed in with your best friends isn't bad after all.

1. That's like three wine nights in a row. (Jack Daniels if you're Sarah.)

This weekend I drank wine with my best friends as we cooked delicious food and had an endless dance party. Wine results in happy Shay, which is good for everyone. We had heart-to-hearts about life and we gave each other a little bit of love that we didn't know that we needed.

2. Every day is a movie marathon.

Everyone loves a good movie... especially the movies that relate just to how close you actually are to each other.

3. Food. Lots of food.

Snow days equal good food. We cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner. We even made desert too. Cooking gives everyone time to bond with each other while still getting to eat. We also didn't have to walk all the way to the caf and pay for it. Instead, everyone pitched in and had a great meal and great bonding time.

4. Cuddle sessions followed by gossip sessions.

Laying around in bed all day watching movies is fun, but being able to talk to your friends (and I mean actually talk) makes all the difference. You can talk all about boys, the different people in your class, and about how life has really been going. It seems that we all get caught up in our everyday lives and forget to sit down and talk to each other. This weekend brought us that much closer.

5. Playing in the snow means snowball fights, snow angels and snow pictures.

These are the lovely ladies I call my best friends. Thanks for spending this snow weekend with me. Thanks for never judging my love for wine, food and being weird. I don't know if I would have made it through this weekend without you all keeping me safe and always being down for adventures. I love you all. I had so much fun with all of you this weekend and I love you all very much.

So, if you're weary of having a snowy weekend in with your girls, don't be. All will be well with lots of wine, food, gossip and a little of mother nature.

After all, the best things that we have in life are each other.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
