Rehearsals, rehearsals and more rehearsals.

Dear Diary,

We just finished the second full week of rehearsals. Thankfully, I only had to be at the studio one day, although I was there for two days helping clean and sew costumes. Earlier in the week, I got the opportunity to go home and work. My presence was definitely made known at Silver Dollar City for those days I was there.

I was very thankful for some awesome customers this week that made things easier. I worked 42 hours in three days. It was rough, but I did it. One couple gave me a $10 tip and that rarely happens in my shop. But, that meant so much to me. It has helped in ways I didn't even know I needed help this week.

When I arrived back in Tulsa on Wednesday, I decided to drive through downtown just for entertainment. I rarely venture to downtown when I'm at school, so it was a nice change of scenery. Later on Wednesday evening, I drove around downtown Sand Springs with a friend of mine. She got free entertainment from the fact that there was a single car train go across the tracks, and I had no idea how to react to it.

Thursday was our first full dress rehearsal without the pros that have been hired to perform with us. It went fairly smooth once we got through the first run-through. We met our stage manager and helped get things organized. I got to talk to her after rehearsal and told her that if she needs any help that I'm willing to help. That's how I ended up at the studio on Friday. On Friday, I cleaned the studio, I started learning how to use a sewing machine, I met our pros, and drove all over Pawhuska. Friday evening, a reception was held at the Osage Nation Museum. It was a meet-and-greet for the professional dancers. I went for a little bit before I had to head back to Arkansas.

Now this weekend, my plans are to pack, pack, and pack. I officially move back out to Tulsa on August 1. I have full days of rehearsals on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday morning, we load up our bus and the Osage Ballet will be Santa Fe bound. I'm getting excited for the trip and performances, but I'm missing church camp this week.

To my church family at Indian Falls Creek this week, I miss you all! I pray that this week is eye opening for each of you. I pray that God works wonders in your life. And know that I'm watching the evening tabernacle services with y'all, so I'm still there! . . . Kinda.

Until next week,

Shelbs

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
