If you're an Alpha Delta Pi, there are three days each semester which allow new members to finally share our ritual. These three days are filled with bonding that show the world how great our sisterhood is. For me, they are my favorite days of the year. Here are four reasons why I, and all my sisters, look forward to the most special time of our membership in the first and the finest.
1. Our sisterhood grows even stronger
When we give a girl a bid to ADPi, we see qualities in her that would make her a great sister and representation of our chapter. This means that they will help keep our sisterhood strong. This truly goes into effect when they earn the privilege of wearing our diamond shaped badge. Our Alphas learn why we love our ritual and sisterhood so much, and come to love it as much as we do. This is also when the Deltas reminisce on their time in ADPi. That usually results in several Instagram posts about how much we love each other. After all, we do live for each other.
2. Our ritual reminds us how special ADPi is
We all went through initiation, but you truly understand everything when you are on the other side. You see the Alphas' excitement and the love in the Deltas' eyes. You listen to the words more carefully and take in everything again. It reminds you how lucky you are to be a part of something so special, something that has meant so much to sisters since 1851. You fall even more in love with ADPi.
3. Littles and grandbabies will finally become Deltas
The only thing better than seeing the Alphas become Deltas is when the Alphas in your diamond family finally become Deltas and your Little finally understands why you want them to love this sorority as much as you do. When you made an addition to your family, it was because you wanted to share more than just a ritual with them. You wanted to be their role model and their protector, and to be the one person to show them how special this sorority is. That all happens when they experience Diamond Days.
4. This is unique to ADPi
Other chapters have events and activities that go on all week for initiation, but no one else has Diamond Days. No one else experiences the meaning and importance of these days, and no one else knows how special they are. Diamond Days are so much more than just initiating our Alphas. Diamond Days are a special time for everyone.
I could go on for days about why I love Diamond Days, but I can't share that with anyone but my sisters. Diamond Days always remind me how lucky I am to be a part of this sisterhood. It reminds me that this sisterhood is forever. Welcome to the first and the finest, new Deltas!
