The world today is facing a problem that grows worse as each day goes by. Humanity is losing it's sense of dialogue. Whether the conversation is about politics, religion etc. The world today is losing it's ability to have a decent and productive conversation. An open dialogue. A big contributing factor to this is a societal expectation of conformety. People nowadays don't respect or care to listen and understand a different perspective because to them, if you disagree and/or think differently then they do, then you are immediately labeled a terrible person and they don't want anything to do with you. Another thing that contributes to this ever growing issue is that people tend to argue with emotion as opposed to logic. As if presenting a difference of opinion doesn't trigger people enough, winning an argument using logic makes them lose their marbles even more, especially due to the fact that the longer the conversation lasts, the more they get upset about it and the more their argument collapses on itself due to them being too angry to think straight. This can become especially toxic on social media where tone can easily be misconstrued. Someone can say something and someone else can completely misinterpret what the person was saying. We as people need to be willing to open ourselves up to listening and understanding others opinions and perspective as opposed to completely shutting them out the second you slightly disagree with what someone says. You don't have to like or agree with what someone has to say but willingness to listen and understand is the first step to resolution. There's a quote that says "just because I disagree with you, doesn't mean I hate you.We need to relearn that in our society". We are all different people who have different opinions. It's about time we start respecting that.
