Now that I am in college with a specifically chosen major, it is starting to hit me that in a few short years I will be out in the 'real world' searching for a job. My first goal for myself is to finish out my four years at Regis College where I am currently taking courses which will ultimately give me a degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, which is also known as an ultrasound technician. Once I graduate with my degree, I hope to find a job so I can begin my dream job as an ultrasound technician. This degree which I am working hard for will have many great opportunities which I can take advantage of.
Straight out of college I hope to find a job as a traveling ultrasound technician. This would be an excellent opportunity because it would give me a chance to travel while doing the job I love. I would be sent to different places around the country or even the world for periods of time whenever I am needed. A benefit of this is that I would have the ability to choose where I live and work based off of where there are shortages of technicians. I enjoy traveling so this would be a bonus because I would be able to travel and explore new places while doing my job. A travel technician makes a competitive wage and often does not have to pay for living or travel expenses because it is included in the job. This would be a good way to begin paying off student loans because I would not be paying a monthly rent on top of student loans.
I also hope to be employed at one of the big Boston hospitals at some point in my life. The hospitals in Boston are some of the greatest in both the country and the world so it would be amazing to be employed for one of them. I hope to make a difference in people's lives when I am older which is why I am pursuing a career in the medical field. Whether it is performing an ultrasound on a patient, words of comfort if they are nervous, or assisting a co-worker; I believe I can make a difference in people's lives no matter how small the act. Each day is owned by you, which is why I hope to use this career in a productive way of helping others.
For now as I am about to begin my second semester as a freshman, I hope to achieve good grades and enjoy the next three and a half years at Regis. Hard work, effort, and dedication are three key components in my future of being a successful ultrasound technician. Working hard now in school will pay off once I graduate.
