Delta Gamma, I Love You To The Moon And Back

To the high school senior who is curious about sorority life, to the girl considering spring recruitment, to the girl who sees us in our letters around campus and wonders what we're really about, I promise you sorority life is everything you dream of and more.

Delta Gamma, I Love You To The Moon And Back

This month marks one year since I began my journey into what would be the best decision I've made in college, joining a sorority. I don't even know where to begin. I can't believe that a year ago today, some of the most important girls in my life I had yet to meet. I had no clue that accepting an invitation would change my life in the ways it has.

I'm not naive to the comments, the assumptions, and the stereotypes. I know this just seems like another girl going on and on about how much she loves her sisters but if I'm being honest, the only way to truly get where I'm coming from is to be a part of the fraternity and sorority life community.

Let's get one thing straight, my sisters are some of the most hardworking, dedicated and ambitious women I have ever met. These girls are going places and I'm so lucky to be a small part of their process. Thank you Delta Gamma for giving me such amazing sisters who inspire me daily. I look around each week and I see us celebrate successes within our chapter. I look at Instagram and see our girls doing good in all corners of the world and it just makes my heart so happy. Sitting next to me each week are future Doctors, Lawyers, Teachers, Businesswomen, mommas and so many more things I can't even imagine. Each one of us is here at Texas Tech to presume our passion and I think it's so special that we are here to love and support each other while we're working to achieve the things we've always dreamt of.

Thank you for the memories, Delta Gee! Thank you for the girls you've brought into my life. Thank you for giving me the sister's I've always wanted. A sorority is so much like a family, more than friends really. In a way, once we pick the sorority house we wish to call home, it's out of our hands. Much like a family, we are surrounded by this group of people who will be there with you through it all. Over the past year, I've seen my Delta Gamma family grow.

I've seen our sisters go to new places that would challenge them more as they enter grad school. I've seen these girls look stunningly beautiful and I've seen girls who just took a nap on the floor because recruitment is no joke. We as sisters go through a lot together and I couldn't be more thankful for it. Everything might not always be sunshine and rainbows but honestly and truly, these girls are what make this place home and l couldn't be more grateful for that.

Hey Delta Gamma, thanks for our lodge. Thanks for my favorite blue couch I've sat on many times to do homework, talk about boys and laugh for hours. Thanks for the powder room that helps us go from a 0-10. Thanks for the food we always have in the fridge and the never-ending coffee during finals. Thanks for letting 5 Greek Circle be my second home, I couldn't imagine my life without the big pink Barbie Dollhouse.

What a year it's been and I've got a lifetime to go. Thanks, Delta Gamma, I love you to the moon and back!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

winter

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
