Attack a Gold Star Family...check. Make light of the Purple Heart...check. Refuse to endorse Paul Ryan, John McCain, and Kelly Ayotte...check. Kick a woman with a crying baby out of a rally you are holding...check. Cause prominent GOP leaders to either denounce, retract, or jump parties...check. Watch poll numbers plummet...check. Miss out on opportunities to attack opponent striking while the iron is BLAZING HOT...check. Make history in the Gallop poll as the ONLY CANDIDATE ever in HISTORY to register A NEGATIVE 15 instead of gaining percentage points AFTER your convention...check. Finally, not listen to advisors, endorse those who you initially refused, back peddle on several headlining faux paus...check. Resume attacking opponent...check.This was the "to do list" of Republican Nominee Donald Trump this past week. These actions pose a question. Seriously, what is going on here? Are you in on the plan to ensure that Hillary is elected president? It sure seems that this is the answer.

While Trump was stealing the spotlight for ALL the WRONG reasons, all of Hillary's lies and "missteps" all but went unnoticed. There was plenty to attack her on. The contradiction in her statements about her emails, how what she said differs from that of the FBI. How poll numbers still believe she is not to be trusted, despite her bounce post-convention. Each of these opportunities were served up to Trump on a silver platter, and he "pooh poohed" them away, and instead opted to piss off and scare the bejeezus out of the Republican party. Even after "correcting" some of his errors, and resuming attacks, he still did NOT mention anything on the missteps made by Hillary this past week. He shifts the blame to the media, accusing them (and maybe rightfully so) of being pro-Hillary.

This is all just a little too weird. Sure, Trump is eccentric. Sure he has some bad business deals. Sure, he has been married a few times. However, you don't become one of this country's wealthiest men by being and acting stupid. Something is just not right! Could this all be a game in order to break apart the Republican party while handing Hillary the keys to the White House? It sure seems that way. Trump has a head for business, and everyone knows this. His reality TV show, the Celebrity Apprentice, shows him cutting through the bull in order to make sure that the best potential employee is hired at the end. While cutting down, the reasoning he makes for firing some, and keeping others, makes sense once he breaks it down. Where is THAT Trump? With less than 100 days until America goes to the polls to elect a new President of the United States, one would think that the business savvy Trump would be the one emerging, and taking control. His running mate Pence, seems to be doing a one-man show, while pulling double duty. He is campaigning, and cleaning behind Trump at the same time. Is this all part of the bigger picture?

Like him or not, Trump is intelligent. However, everyone can agree that the actions and words he has spewed across the media suggest otherwise. There are old pictures of Donald cozy with the Clintons from not so far back in the day. We know Trump has a dislike for our favorite President, Barack Obama which may be the reason to turn on Hillary. If this is the case, why not allow another Republican candidate gain the nomination and go after her? It is simple. Take note that Trump is not only dissatisfied with Obama, but with all Republicans as a whole. By winning the nomination, and then turning his attack onto his own, he is ripping the entire party to shreds....check. As he rips them to shreds, they will have to regroup, rethink, and proceed in a completely different manner in order to be taken seriously again...check. Until then, the White House is solely for Hillary to lose on her own...check. It may very well be Trump is playing us all. He may never have wanted the presidency in the first place. He successfully "fired" all contenders who are of the status quo. He is completing the house cleaning by causing some GOP members to disavow him while others jump ship, and even announce they will jump parties. If Trump's sole goal is to shake up and change the Republican party? We have to say...job well done...CHECK!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
