No Matter What Your Political Affiliation, the American Flag Should Not Be Disrespected

Many died for the flag, who do you think you are to disrespect it?

As we all know by now, the USA Women's soccer team won the Fifa world cup. That's a huge accomplishment! As much as their hard work is admired, there have been some remarks from the women's soccer team that have left me astounded, and almost embarrassed that they are representing our red, white and blue.

More specifically coming from Megan Rapinoe, stating that she will not go to the White House, even if they win the World Cup, and after winning the tournament, stomping on the American flag. Though, she goes on saying that she is "extremely American".

Those who are elite in society and in sports (Colin Kaepernick) don't realize that their dreams were achieved by staying true to the American Dream from hard work and determination. Most parts of the world don't have the same opportunities that these people have. Then once they reach their successes, they talk down to what got them there.

There is no other place in the world like the United States of America. And most of the time people don't realize that the world we live in is luxury, no matter what your financial status. We are so lucky to live in a society where we are free to do whatever we want. Thousands of people died just for America to have their freedom. Thousands of people died ending slavery, defending our country, and so much more. I think that it is an absolute embarrassment that these big-shot athletes and other famous people are disrespecting the land that gave them their success.

Just like killing a bald eagle being a federal crime, so should showing any disrespect to the American flag. We are the the land that our Founding Fathers dreamed of giving to their ancestors. No matter what your political affiliation, the American Flag should not be disrespected. Honor roots and where you came from. Don't make them an embarrassment.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
