Everyone that has ever experienced one school day, one day at work or even one hour on social media has experienced stress. Sometimes it's unavoidable, sometimes it's not, but it always seems unavoidable. During these moments, it's important to take at least 10 minutes of your time to destress. These strategies, among many others, can help you do this.

1. Listen to music

Listening to playlists of my favorite songs is something that always puts me in a good mood and takes me on a temporary mental vacay.

2. Meditate

There are so many different ways to meditate, including different apps and even playlists on Spotify.

3. Go hangout with your friends

Your friends always know how to put you in a good mood. Take a break and go rant or laugh a little, whatever you’re feeling.

4. Treat yourself

Do some online shopping or even go hit the mall. You’re awesome and you deserve to get yourself a little something.

5. Exercise

This might be the most obvious one but it is definitely one of the most effective. Stop making excuses for yourself and go hit the gym! Those endorphins work wonders.

6. Sleep

Maybe part of the reason you’re feeling a little overwhelmed is because you’re not getting a good night’s sleep! Take a quick power nap or even just hit the hay early.

7. Smile

It’s scientifically proven that even just smiling for a couple seconds will put us in a better mood.

8. Breathe

Something simple yet so effective. Take a couple deep breaths. Everything is going to be alright, I promise.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
