Are you getting tired of the same old locations in Morgantown? Are you staying in town for the summer and think you might need a fresh, new hang out spot? Do not fear, there are wonderful getaways right under your nose! Grab a few of your friends and road trip to these fun places!

1. Fallingwater

This magnificent piece of architecture was built between 1936 and 1939 by Frank Llyod Wright, in Southwest, Pennsylvania, for one of his clients, the Kaufmann family. The house stretches over a 30' waterfall and is considered a National Historic Landmark.

2. Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum

In the 1800's, the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum housed the mentally ill. The location offers a variety of tours including a historic tour of the grounds, and even paranormal tours.

3. The Wisp Resort

The Wisp Resort in Deep Creek, MD, serves as a ski resort in the winter. However, in the summer, the operate several different outdoor activities. At the Wisp, you can go on Aerial Adventures and climb their canopies, or take a ride on the Mountain Coaster (pictured above). The Mountain Coaster twists and turns for 3,500 feet downhill over 350 vertical feet on the eastern side of Wisp Mountain. Other activities near The Wisp, in Deep Creek, MD include Smiley's Fun Zone and whitewater rafting at Adventure Sports Center International. Whatever you choose to do, brace yourself for a great time!

4. Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium

Lions, tigers, bears, and thousands of other animals! The park is divided into six different sections: African Savanna, Asian Forest, Kids Kingdom, PPG Aquarium, Tropical Forest, and Water's Edge. You can even walk underneath the Polar Bear exhibit and view them above you in the water! It is a pretty neat experience!

5. Oglebay

Oglebay in Wheeling, WV offers overnight accommodations and an abundance of recreational activities including golf, the Good Zoo, horse trail rides, walking trails, tennis courts and swimming. If you are in the mood for touring museums, nearby you can find the Mansion Museum and the Glass Museum.

6. Mattress Factory Museum

9. The Andy Warhol Museum

The Warhol Museum is dedicated to carrying on Warhol's legacy. It houses 900 paintings; approximately 100 sculptures; nearly 2,000 works on paper; more than 1,000 published and unique prints; and 4,000 photographs. Some works included in the museum are Knives (1981), Self-Portrait (1963-64), and Dead Stop (1954).

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.
