What is it really like to be depressed? I used to ask myself this all the time. I used to always think I was depressed, but the only thing wrong with that was that when I was happy I didn't think that. Depression is it just a statement to be thrown around like a baseball. It is very serious and I know that now.
It is so common these days to walk down the street and hear a stranger say 'that's depressing' or 'they look depressed'. Why is that, though? Why can't people just say sad? Why do they have to go to the extent of saying depressed? My only idea would be because they don't really know what depressed means. But I guess I can now consider myself one of the few that do know what it means.
The true definition of depression cannot be fully understood by reading it out if a dictionary. It needs to be experienced in order to be understood. Although you can never really explain it once you know. No motivation to do anything. Sleeping all hours that you can.not eating enough or not eating at all. Playing the role of the happiest person in the crowd. Many things define depression and they all differ from person to person. Depression is not a fun thing to go through. The hard thing is trying to get around it. Let the people around you help you. You will always have support whether you know it or not. Take advice and learn from your mistakes. Never turn from seeking help. Depression is not just a statement.
