Maybe you have a friend who you want to hang out with but they just always say no, despite having literally nothing to do and instead they just sleep their day away.
Or maybe you have a daughter or son who refuses to do anything and is to damn lazy to even get up to feed themselves.
Well, I am here to let you know that that is not always due to laziness.
A lot of people overlook symptoms of depression as someone just being plain lazy, when that is not the case what so ever.
I can't speak for everyone who has suffered from depression before, but from my personal experience, depression felt like a huge bolder was on my back and just doing anything from hanging out with friends or doing simple work tasks was mentally and physically exhausting.
I am an extrovert nature, meaning that I love being with people and that I get energy from hanging out with others.
Being depressed made me not want to do anything with anyone though.
It made me want to sleep in bed all day and to ignore anyone who tried to talk to me.
It was just too hard to bring myself to do things that I normally would love.
Which is why as someone who has suffered from depression before, I think that it is important to let people know that depression is not a synonym for lazy.
Just because someone doesn't want to hang out like they normally do or because they never do things they are supposed to, means that they don't care about themselves or others.
It means that you should be paying more attention to them and noticing the symptoms of depression.
Of course, everyone's experience with depression is different and not everyone has felt or will feel the way that I did, but there are warning signs that you defiantly should be cognizant of.
Depression is way too common today, so it is important that we all know what to look for if we think that someone is going through it.
So if you know someone whom you think is just being lazy, maybe take a step back and evaluate his or her behavior. If you take the time out to see if they are OK and if something bigger is going on, you may even be able
