Three Signs That Tell Me It's Getting Bad Again

Everyone has their tell tale signs that their depression or anxiety is worsening yet again, but if you're able to recognize these signs you may be able to fight off the next bout that seems inevitable. Being able to recognize these signs is so important because in time it can be a preventable measure to try and fight off whatever is coming next.

1. The Insomnia

One of the very first signs that I see in myself, when the next funk is coming is the inability to sleep. Even though I have to work the next morning or I have a laundry list of things to do the next day, the thought of sleep seems to keep me more awake. My eyes can be heavy, my soul can feel so tired, yet, I lay in bed and toss and turn while I search for my next Netflix binge to keep me occupied throughout the night.

2. Sudden Urgency to Complete Tasks

The worst feeling is sitting on the couch watching your favorite movie and feeling this panic come over you that your house is dirty, or your laundry needs to be done in that moment or you know you won't be able to enjoy yourself until you get it done. It can be midnight and my mind has decided for me that it's time to clean the house, some part of me believes that my brain tells me these things because my mind knows I won't have the energy or ambition to do it in case the next round of sadness comes over me, and when it does we all know it hits like a train.

3. The Littlest Things Drive Me Insane

Even on my best days, I can not stand the sound of chewing, it is one of my biggest pet peeves, but i'm so far from the type to tell someone they need to chew with their mouth closed or quiet down. What I can say is, in the days prior to the really bad days, the one simple sound literally drives me to tears, even feeling the need to go into another room until the other person is done eating their food, but I know that I need to get away or I literally might have a breakdown. The littlest noises, or actions send me into a panic in the days prior to the next bout of depression.

It is one hundred percent up to the person feeling the anxiety or depression to recognize their own signs, everyone is their own person and their list could be completely different from mine. Recognizing these signs could make the difference in your entire mood for that week or month. Recognizing these signs, will show you that you CAN fight off that next bout of depression. All your signs will tell you that you need to just take a bubble bath, or go outside and soak up some vitamin D, or do whatever you know how to relax yourself. Your peace of mind is ALWAYS more important than the bad days that may or may not come to follow.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
