Here are a few reasons why this state we love is not just good for your lungs, but good for your soul. This is also coming from a native Coloradoan. There are very few Denver natives still in Denver actually. We are the ones that stayed.
1. The People
Instead of wearing hundred dollar suits, they are wearing cargo shorts and Hawaiian shirts. These people in our glorious city are kind people, but they love what they do. Denver was built on miners, traders, builders. We are a city of workers to the extreme. Almost every time I have spoken to Denverites, they have always loved their job
The people are what make this God gifted city I call home. In early March, I was walking downtown and I spotted two business partners talking about business stuff. I went to go climb Mount Democrat, I met those same people. They cherish life and what they do. Denver is one of the oldest still standing cities in all of Colorado; saying you live in Denver holds weight. The air here is thin. It makes your heart bigger. We are a little crazier here. We are in boardrooms debating multi-million dollar deals with clients halfway around the world. Then nine hours later we could be in a tent sipping on some cheap coffee in below freezing weather. This city was built on workers. That's who we are, we can always put in one more hour, stay a little longer to help the intern. It's part of our DNA.
2. Mornings
Ever seen a sunrise? If you haven't experienced a sunrise for yourself during a foggy Colorado morning, time to start living life. I remember I was in downtown Denver for a DECA competition. Early morning and I knew a few company buildings, I went inside. Tired and half asleep, made myself some coffee, checked my watch. 6:07a.m. I saw that golden orange that we are all too familiar with here in Denver. Anything could happen I thought; this beautiful sunrise can only be experienced here. In a city or on a hilltop of a mountain. Each morning is the start of your day, not just any day, but a new day filled with new experiences that have an infinite number of solutions and opportunities.
3. Mountains
These magnificent beauties that tower over our fair city are what we like to summit, 53 mountains are above 14 thousand feet; we call them fourteeners. I have summited five 14ers, and from each one, you gain something. Because these mountains are really extreme at certain points, when you summit something like a 14er you are going to feel proud. You're on top of the world. Because you learn about yourself from the mountain: what you can do, what you can accomplish and so forth.
