With presidential nominations finally coming in, the November election is getting closer and closer. The Republican National Convention was held from July 18-21 in Cleveland, Ohio and Donald Trump became their nominee. Hillary Clinton was named the Democrats' choice for president at their convention held in Philadelphia. There were major moments at both, but with speakers like Bernie Sanders, Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Michelle Obama and many other important figures from the Democratic party, the DNC was much more buzzworthy.
Although Sanders did not receive the nomination, many of his delegates and supporters at the Democratic National Convention still protested on his behalf. With recent allegations that the leaders of the DNC and the party itself showed favoritism toward Clinton, some think that said favoritism lead to Clinton getting the nomination.
Clinton has the backing of the two men holding the highest positions in the free world. Barack Obama and Joe Biden both made speeches supporting Hillary as the next president. President Obama showed his support by saying, “This year, in this election, I’m asking you to join me — to reject cynicism, reject fear, to summon what’s best for us; to elect Hillary Clinton as the next President of the United States, and show the world we still believe in the promise of this great nation.” Joe Biden also showed his support by saying Hillary is the best option America has for President.
Furthermore, both of those men and many of the other speakers showed their distaste for the Republican candidate, Donald Trump. With his idea to build a wall between a wall between the United States and Mexico and his public trashing of his fellow candidates on Twitter, he seems very unprepared to be the next leader of the free world. The Democrats should stay in power.
