I’m still beaming, still glowing, and my adrenaline is still pumping as if I were still standing in awe watching one of my favorite pop divas perform. My friends, I am in such a concert high and this one is definitely than the previous concerts I’ve been to. Seeing Demi live was touching, moving, and empowering. There are so many things I want to share about her latest performance on Wednesday but I’ll keep it short and summarize what I feel like were the best wow moments from the show.
Ms. Lovato opened the show a little different than maybe somewhere expecting—instead of emerging onto the stage into one of her more upbeat pop hits, she started things off slow with a striking performance of “You Don’t Do It For Me Anymore" while rocking a long black trench-dress with sleek, straight hair. Personally, this was one of many favorites on this album and it was nice seeing her taking a different approach to starting the night versus going for the norm. Don’t get me wrong, she definitely still started with a bang considering her vocals are nothing to be underestimated; I feel like it definitely worked though, as it added to the anticipation of what was to come next.
Moving along, there’s no denying that things heated up with a sexy, provocative and steamy performance of “Cool For The Summer", where she stunned with a black t-shirt dress, thigh high boots, and fishnet stockings. The dancers didn’t hold back on the risqué choreography and we could see two of the male dancers, along with Demi and one of her female dancers, get a little up close and personal that sent the crowd spiraling into a frenzy.
Following this, there was a change of stage location where she sat on this bed sporting a white-lace lingerie ensemble and graced us with intimate performances of “Crybaby”, “Concentrate”. In my opinion, this part of the show was the most creative because of the choreography from the dancers—they were able to grasp the message the songs were trying to convey, so we were able to see the emotional aspect of the songs as Demi sang them live accompanied by the visual aspect from the dancers. And I must add that she and the male dancers alongside her showed ultimate sex appeal during her performance of “Lonely.”
Everyone has a past, some darker than others and for everyone who knows Demi is aware of her past struggles with drugs and alcohol. She wasn’t afraid to touch on these topics as she transitioned into her most touching and moving performances of the night. Back on the main stage with a piano at her fingertips, she gracefully sang “Warrior” and watching her sing I could see this strong, empowered, and graceful individual who’s come a long way despite her past. But what stood out to me the most about this portion of the concert was her vulnerability as she sang a personal song she wrote in remembrance of her father; I remember sitting and then BOOM—she hit this note that moved me so much I jumped to my feet and I could feel tears in my eyes. It was beautiful, I could feel every lyrics she sang and her vocals during the song...insanely, indescribably, incredible.
At last, she descended into the stage and her dancers reappeared with some hot choreography to a mixture of popular songs topping the charts. Finally Demi re-emerged, dazzling in a black jumpsuit ensemble and long straight locks, as her smash hit “Sorry Not Sorry” was showcased and “Tell Me You Love Me” thereafter. Power and confidence beamed from within her as she blazed the stage with these last two powerhouse performances. And then, just like that, the end to an amazing night seeing an even more beautiful individual doing what she loves.
For those that missed the show, you missed a real treat!
