Tell Me You Love Me, Demi Lovato's sixth album, conveys her forceful and irresistible voice in the 12 track album. She has hit every genre of pop throughout her career and finally settled in her new R&B, flirty pop sound that is hard to not have on replay. Although her 2013 album, Demi, is my personal favorite, there are definitely strong assets in this one and it has an interesting sound that I have been waiting for.
Let's look back on Demi's journey to where she is today. She has always been extremely transparent about her struggles with mental health and addiction. Out of all of the rising Disney stars, (Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, and Nick Jonas for example) she has had the longest road to where she is today and definitely earned her spot in the spotlight- always being completely open with her fans.
Additionally, she has always released albums that are completely pop, therefore trying something new on this album. Although R&B isn't my favorite genre, Demi's voice is so compelling that it made me love the genre. (Thanks, Demi!)
One thing that I personally was waiting for in this album was a strong ballad. Anyone who knows me well (or has listened to me rant about music) knows that I almost always look for that immediately when an album is released. Some of my favorite ballads of Demi’s are 'Nightingale', 'Shouldn't Come Back', 'Warrior', 'Stone Cold' and 'Father.'
The one song on this album that is as powerful as those songs is 'You Don't Do It For Me Anymore'- definitely give this a listen! This is one of my favorite Demi Lovato songs.
Tell Me You Love Me does have some great songs though that I have kept on repeat since the album released. Some of my favorites are 'Sexy Dirty Love', 'You Don't Do It For Me Anymore', 'Daddy Issues', and 'Concentrate'. And, of course, 'Sorry Not Sorry' is a forceful radio hit that everyone's had on repeat.
I believe that Demi has one of the most impressive voices in the music industry and you can definitely hear that in this album. You get to know the new Lovato behind this album through her music. If you're into R&B and just amazing-sounding music in general, give this album a listen!
