Delta 8 THC is a minor cannabinoid found in cannabis plants that have gained popularity as an alternative to Delta 9 THC, which is the primary psychoactive component of cannabis. While Delta 9 THC is illegal under federal law, Delta 8 THC has been in a legal grey area due to a loophole in the 2018 Farm Bill, which legalized hemp and hemp-derived products.

However, the legality of Delta 8 THC varies by state, and some states have chosen to ban the compound altogether. As of my knowledge cutoff of September 2021, the legality of delta 8 wisconsin was uncertain, and it is recommended that individuals consult with local authorities and legal experts to determine the current laws and regulations regarding Delta 8 THC in the state.

What is Delta 8 THC?

Delta-8-tetrahydrocannabinol, commonly known as Delta 8 THC, is a minor cannabinoid found in cannabis plants. It is similar in chemical structure to the more well-known Delta 9 THC, which is the primary psychoactive component of cannabis.

Delta 8 THC is believed to have similar but milder effects on the body and mind than Delta 9 THC, and some people use it as a legal alternative to Delta 9 THC. It has been reported to have psychoactive effects, although less potent than Delta 9 THC, and may have potential therapeutic benefits.

Difference between Delta 8 and Delta 9 THC

Delta-8-tetrahydrocannabinol (Delta 8 THC) and Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (Delta 9 THC) are both cannabinoids found in cannabis plants. However, there are some differences between the two compounds.

  • Chemical structure: Delta 8 THC has a slightly different chemical structure than Delta 9 THC. While they are both forms of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), Delta 8 THC has a double bond on the 8th carbon atom, while Delta 9 THC has a double bond on the 9th carbon atom.
  • Potency: Delta 9 THC is known for its potent psychoactive effects, and is the primary compound responsible for the "high" associated with marijuana use. Delta 8 THC, on the other hand, is believed to have milder psychoactive effects than Delta 9 THC, although it may still have some degree of intoxicating effects.
  • Legal status: Delta 9 THC is illegal under federal law in the United States, while Delta 8 THC is in a legal grey area due to a loophole in the 2018 Farm Bill, which legalized hemp and hemp-derived products. However, the legality of Delta 8 THC varies by state, and some states have chosen to ban the compound altogether.
  • Availability: Delta 9 THC is present in higher concentrations in marijuana plants, while Delta 8 THC is present in much lower concentrations. However, Delta 8 THC can be extracted and isolated from both marijuana and hemp plants.

It is important to note that both Delta 8 THC and Delta 9 THC may have potential risks and side effects, and they should only be used under the guidance of a healthcare professional. Additionally, the legality of Delta 8 THC remains a complex and evolving issue, and consumers should exercise caution when purchasing and using Delta 8 THC products.

The legality of Delta 8 THC varies by state, and some states have chosen to ban the compound altogether or regulate its sale and use. As of my knowledge cutoff of September 2021, the legality of Delta 8 THC in Wisconsin was uncertain, and it is recommended that individuals consult with local authorities and legal experts to determine the current laws and regulations regarding Delta 8 THC in the state.

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
