Now that Thanksgiving is just around the corner people are looking very forward to their family recipe traditions and classic delicious dishes. When I think of Thanksgiving I think of my family recipes that are very hard to duplicate. Some of my favorite Thanksgiving foods are as follows:

Sweet Potato Casserole:

The classic sweet potatoes are a tradition of Thanksgiving, but my family has a recipe that is hard to beat. Sweet potatoes are made mashed with honey, brown sugar and walnuts the sweetness with the crunch of the walnuts are truly delicious and is worth the one year wait.

Stuffing:

Among the recipes that my family does and is very famous, one of the dishes that I look forward to the most is my mom’s stuffing. It is made with the stuffing, but we have a recipe where we boil it in with the corn muffin mix, then cook it in the oven for about 20 minutes and then we stuff the Turkey and let it cook even longer so it comes out very fluffy and delicious. The fluffy texture and the taste from the herbs is definitely in my top 2 favorite dishes from the feast.

Rice

Me as an Exercise Science major I can’t forget about my favorite carbohydrates rice. During Thanksgiving, my mom makes boiled rice and it comes out very fluffy and absolutely amazing.

Corn Casserole

Besides for the stuffing, my favorite Thanksgiving dish is still my mom’s Corn Casserole. It is so good that it can actually be used for both dinner and dessert. It is an absolute blessing that I get to have this dish every Thanksgiving because in my life I have never tasted a better Thanksgiving dish then my mom’s corn casserole. It takes almost all day to make, but it definitely is worth the work put forth to make this masterpiece. The thought of it makes me ravenous, but it is worth the wait because I’m definitely going to enjoy it more if I wait for it.

Pumpkin Pie

After the delicious feast, the one thing I look forward to the most, as well as other people is Pumpkin Pie. Ever since I first had it back in 2005 it has become one of my favorite Thanksgiving desserts The creaminess of the filling and the sweetness from the whipped cream make it truly a delicacy.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
