Sunday, Taylor Swift released her music video for her song “Delicate” after winning female artist of the year at the iHeartRadio Music Awards. “Delicate” is the fourth single off of her new album “Reputation” and gives fans a real step into her life. This is definitely one of the densest songs in terms of lyrics. One of the best lyrics is “My reputation’s never been worse so you must like me for me”.
Recently, we’ve seen Taylor step out of the spotlight- and this music video is a great depiction of that. She’s avoided all interviews after her album dropped and her social media is only filled with album promotion. The music video begins with dozens of cameras in her face and within that crowd, someone slips her a note.
She then walks into a fancy lobby and everyone turns and stares at her as she walks by. Taylor tries to stop and take pictures with fans but people start to grab her and her security team is on top of her every move. The coolest part of this music video is when she all of a sudden becomes invisible. She dances throughout the rest of the music video (not the greatest dancing but it’s Taylor Swift, so it’s fine.). The video ends with her at a bar holding the piece of paper from the beginning of the music video and she’s visible again and everyone turns and looks at her.
So, let’s discuss the message of the video. Even though she is one of the most popular celebrities it still has its drawbacks. It’s super overwhelming for her. The minute she becomes invisible she is able to be herself and dance like no one’s watching. This goes to show that although right now she’s kind of gone away from the spotlight she’s doing great (and as a swiftie, this music video was amazing.)
