Greetings from Delaware Valley University! We are SO excited to be launching our chapter of the Odyssey; we pack a ton of school spirit into a pretty small student body, and we can't wait to share that with the world. Never heard of DelVal? That's okay, most people have never heard of our little farm school. I'll get you up to speed:
We are located in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. Yes, Pennsylvania, not Delaware. I'm just as uncomfortable with it as you are.
We were founded in 1896 as the "National Farm School," combining academics with hands-on agricultural education. While DelVal has expanded academically, we still maintain the tradition of being an "ag school."
We have farms right on campus, and a farmer's market with produce that we grow ourselves. Horses, cows, sheep, pigs, and chickens are all within a short walk of the dorms and academic buildings. Yes, if the wind blows just right, you can smell manure.
Our student body is made up of about 2,000 undergrads and grads, pursuing degrees in everything from psychology to equine business management.
We are home to numerous Division III sports teams, including football, baseball, soccer, lacrosse, and track. We also offer over 70 student-run clubs and organizations.
Our writing team here at DelVal can't wait to share our stories with the Odyssey; stay tuned!
