Deimira Paa Baidoo has been involved in the building and development industry for most of his career, and before then, he was a banker and avid salesperson. Now, he focuses heavily on digital marketing and helping companies elevate their trust, authority and brand presence.
Most of Deimira's day-to-day responsibilities include working with clients, builders in particular, helping them reach new audiences and grow their businesses.
Marketing and sales were the two of the main facets that helped Deimira scale his business. Even before he owned his business, he was flipping cars as a student and making as much as $5000 per month, earning an income and driving for free.
How has Deimira been so successful throughout his career? According to him, it was about marketing and sales, but also about so much more than that.
"It's about understanding your customer," says Deimira.
In order to sell to your customer, and to even market to them in the first place, you need to understand their needs and wants.
So, how exactly do we do that? Deimira Baidoo has agreed to share some of his tips with us.
The first thing you can do is take a better look at your geographical region.
If you own a pharmaceutical store in a certain area, Deimira says you can understand the kind of people living in the area.
He recommends asking yourself, "What kind of people are living in those apartments? Are they older folks? Are they younger folks? What kind of needs do they have?"
The main thing you want to accomplish with this exercise is understanding the unique pain points your customers have. Once you understand their needs and wants, you can help them arrive at a solution that works best.
Sales and marketing is also about principles in Deimira's opinion.
"You need to put yourself in the customer's shoes and you need to give them what you genuinely believe they need."
"Selling in my opinion is about what you genuinely believe will be helpful to the end buyer," says Deimira.
Deimira says as a salesperson, it's imperative to build relationships to cultivate trust factor and rapport with your prospects.
Trust is a big theme that has helped Deimira reach new heights of success, both from a sales and from a marketing perspective.
He often helps builders in his region with marketing and advertising, and as part of his service, he consults them on how to attain more trust with their audience.
"I search for the business on Google and then I see what they have on Facebook and on other platforms," says Deimira.
If you want to better understand your customers, you need to better understand what their needs and wants are, then what they are searching for, and ultimately how it looks when they do.
You want to gauge the impression the customer has of your business before they even enter the sales funnel. That way, you can manage their impression, elevate their trust and increase the chance of a sale.
Another part of running a successful business and understanding your customers, according to Deimira, is improving the overall customer experience and boosting customer service. Customer service is important to increase retention and future word-of-mouth recommendations.
When it comes to improving customer experience, you want to ensure that your customers feel cared for and appreciated throughout the process. At the same time, it's imperative to solicit feedback and to leave open lines of communication with your customers.
"You need to ensure you are providing the customer with the best service possible."
