My Definitive Ranking Of Game Shows

Some game shows are just better than others.

My Definitive Ranking Of Game Shows

Anyone who knows me understands that I'm a big fan of game shows. On my days off work, you can often find me sitting at home or at a friend's house watching the Price is Right or getting a little too involved in getting all the Jeopardy questions right. I've seen dozens of game shows, and by now, I have a definite opinion on which game shows are duds (Press Your Luck and Catch 21), and my top 10 favorite shows.

10. The Newlywed Game

The Newlywed Game isn't an amazing show, but it's cute to watch couples reminisce over the history of their relationships, and some of the questions call for sweet answers. While it's not a game show for people who don't enjoy a bit of sappy romance, it is one of my favorites.

9. Chain Reaction

Chain Reaction has a great concept for a show, and it's an easy one to play along with at home. The chains start and end with a word, and each contestant gets a new letter in one of the other words in the chain and have the opportunity to guess the next word in the chain. (It's harder than it sounds.)

8. Don't Forget the Lyrics

While this isn't one of my favorite shows, my friends and I are big music lovers. It's always enjoyable to guess the next lyrics to a song and find that you might not actually remember the words to a song you thought you knew really well.

7. Winsanity

Winsanity is the newest show on this list, and the goal of the show is for an audience member to put 10 numerical facts in order from smallest to largest. By the last round, it's incredibly difficult. One of the best parts is that other members of the audience, and even viewers at home, can win prizes, making it an incredibly interactive game show.

6. Deal or No Deal

Deal or No Deal isn't necessarily the most exciting show to watch, depending on the episode. Even though it's not a game based on knowledge or trivia, it's fun to see a person get so close to winning large amounts of money.

5. Family Feud

Family Feud is one of those game shows that never gets old for me. The top answers for questions are often unexpected and hilarious, and the families are usually really supportive of each other. I watch it at least once a week, and it's a fun show to see.

4. Lingo

Lingo is another word game, like Chain Reaction, in which contestants try to guess a 5 letter word with only the first letter. The letters are highlighted in different colors depending on whether the letter is in the word and if it is in the right place in the word.

3. Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader?

Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader is a great show for home viewers because it's pretty easy to play along. It has questions that a person from various elementary school grade levels should have learned that can make you wonder if they really are smart enough to pass the fifth grade.

2. Jeopardy!

Jeopardy was my number one favorite game show for several years. It's the ultimate game show for someone as obsessed with useless trivia as I am, and I watch it almost every day when it's on.

1. Baggage

Baggage is a show that I most recently started watching, but I'm definitely glad I did. It's hosted by Jerry Springer which makes it funny. The show is a dating show in which contestants reveal "baggage", embarrassing/strange facts about themselves that aren't exactly desirable in a potential partner. It's definitely a bit of a guilty pleasure for me, but some of the baggage is downright hilarious.

*Honorable mentions go out to the Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune.

Now that Halloween is over, it's time to focus on the Holiday Season. Don't get me wrong, I think Thanksgiving is great and can't wait for it, but nothing gives me greater joy than watching Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas, lighting peppermint scented candles, decking the halls, and baking gingerbread cookies. So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.
