Six seasons down, one to go. We started this show from the beginning, and we are holding on till the end, no matter how often it makes us want to throw our televisions out the window. Here's a list of the 12 different finales we've experienced thus far, ranked from most awful to most awesome.
12. Season 6A Finale: "Game Over, Charles"
This finale, by far, caused the most disappointment and anger among fans that any episode of any show has ever caused. PLL fans awaited the Big A reveal for approximately 6 years, only to witness something that seemed as though it had been thrown together by the producers the minute before the episode aired. When the person in the black hoodie finally turned around, fans learned that Big A was CeCe Drake/Charles DiLaurentis/Charlotte DiLaurentis, A.K.A. a character no one could have cared less about. As if the identity of Big A wasn't disappointing enough, fans soon learned that Big A's motive was essentially nonexistent, which made no sense. How could Big A torture four girls and their families for six years without reasoning? C'mon, producers. To make matters worse, Sara Harvey, another irritating, unnecessary character who adds nothing worthwhile to the show, was revealed not only as "Black Veil," but as "Red Coat," another major villain. Needless to say, outraged PLL fans were blowing up social media for weeks after this!
11. Season 2B Finale: "UnmAsked"
PLL fans had some practice with being severely disappointed during the show's first A reveal. In the book series, Mona was revealed as the original A, which was great. However, the producers said countless times that they were not going to be following the books and that A would be a completely different person. Thus, when theorizing, PLL fans completely ruled Mona out as A. When she was revealed as A in this episode, fans were not very happy, to put it mildly.
10. Season 6B Finale: "Hush... Hush, Sweet Liars"
Overall, this episode didn't cause any intense anger or frustration among fans, but it was super weak for a season finale. We were promised a twin reveal, and we were given one: Jessica DiLaurentis has a twin, and her name is Mary Drake, who is apparently Charlotte's birth mother. This plot is becoming so far-fetched. Can we just go back to the days where we were just trying to figure out who killed Alison? I guess not, since Alison was inexplicably alive and cared for all those years.
9. Season 3B Finale: "A dAngerous Game"
The only somewhat memorable thing about this episode was that Spencer, Hanna, and Mona all swore that they saw Alison as the person in the red coat pulling them out of the fire. As usual, we received no answers, but a ton more questions were opened up, most of which we are still waiting for answers to.
8. Season 5A Finale: "Taking This One to the Grave"
This episode was more sad than anything else, because fans had to watch Mona's mom's reaction to the fact that her daughter was murdered. Don't worry, Mrs. Vanderwaal, it will be revealed that your daughter is actually alive in just a few more episodes.
7. Season 2A Finale: "Over My Dead Body"
This was the finale in which the girls were arrested for Alison's murder after being framed by A. Nothing too groundbreaking happened in this episode, but it was funny to watch the girls trying to dig up what they thought was Dr. Sullivan's body in the dirt.
6. Season 4B Finale: "A is for Answers"
This finale included a big moment for PLL fans: ALISON IS ALIVE. While the girls' reactions were painfully underwhelming, fans finally received the answer to one of the major questions posed by the show over the years. Of course, it was never explained how Alison's hair managed to stay perfectly curled over her many years of hiding, but hey, that's part of the wonder that is Pretty Little Liars.
5. Season 4A Finale: "Now You See Me, Now You Don't"
#ezrA! PLL fans who conjured up the "Ezra is A" theory were SCREAMING with happiness when Ezra turned around in the black outfit at the end of this finale. Of course, the producers didn't continue with this storyline, but at the time, it was a very exciting moment.
4. Season 1A Finale: "Keep Your Friends Close"
Wow, what a throwback. The season 1 mid-season finale was full of excitement, especially when the girls were at "Camp Mona." Oh yeah, and remember when Hanna got hit by the car when she was watching Noel, who was watching Aria and Ezra together? Classic PLL.
3. Season 5B Finale: "Welcome to the Dollhouse"
The producers actually deserve credit for the dollhouse idea- it was pretty awesome. Big A somehow created an underground dollhouse in the middle of nowhere, where the girls were captured and used as his/her "dolls." In this episode, we also found out that Mona was alive and that A was Charles DiLaurentis. Overall, this was actually a really good episode.
2. Season 3A Finale: "The Lady Killer"
The end of this finale was easily the most shocking moment on Pretty Little Liars. The person in the black hoodie turned around, and all it took was one look at those beautiful blue eyes for every PLL fan to scream. TOBY was the betrayer. Of course, this storyline also didn't continue, as it was later revealed that Toby had just joined the A-Team to help the girls. Still, fans were too excited by this surprising reveal to be angry that the beloved Toby was secretly evil. In this episode, we also saw Emily kill the guy who was pretending to be Maya's brother, but was really her stalker. This finale was just filled with plot twists and reveals.
1. Season 1B Finale: "For Whom The Bells Toll"
And finally, the greatest finale of all: the season 1 finale. It may have been five years ago, but fans will never forget screaming while watching Ian chase Spencer through the bell tower, only to be thrown off the tower by the mysterious figure in the black hoodie. This was a crazy, action-packed finale and easily the best PLL episode ever. Now, for the real question: Why couldn't every finale be like this?
