With school having already started for most of us, our weekends are little more than a race to fit in as much as possible before going back to the daily grind of school and/or work. Here's a definitive list of netflix shows to help you do just that:
10. The Messengers
The Messengers is about how a group of completely unrelated people is given the task of working together to stop the devil and the four horsemen of the apocalypse from ending the world. However macabre the show may seem there are quite a few light-hearted moments and more than enough drama to keep the show going.
9. Merlin
Within this show, based on the ancient stories of the knights of the round table, merlin must save Arthur from death in innumerable different situations. But wait! There’s more! Magic is banned in Camelot so Merlin can’t let anyone know what he truly is.
8. Witches of East End
Witches of East End is the story of a coven of witches who live in the modern world. Two daughters reach adulthood and are finally told of their powers and the show is about them learning to deal with it throughout a number of different magic and teenage girl related problems.
7. The Arrow
Arrow is more than just another superhero movie or TV-show. The show takes the story of the Oliver Queen, dark as it is, and really doesn’t try to make it palatable, rather the show makes the internal struggles a central part of the show. But don’t worry, there’s still plenty of the super-hero fight scenes we’ve all come to know and love.
6. How to Get Away with Murder
How to Get Away with Murder is one of the best shows on TV right now. The show follows a group of college law students learning and practicing under the most cutthroat but still the best lawyer in the game, Annalise Keating. Obviously, things go wrong and we know right away from the title that there’s going to be drama, and the show gives you more than enough to keep you locked in your seat waiting for answers.
5. The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt follows Kimmy Schmidt’s transition back to society after being locked in a doomsday bunker for 15 years. The show has everything a binge show could want, Humor, Drama, a strong plot and so much more.
4. Jessica Jones
Jessica Jones is another very Dark Superhero show but this one follows a woman held captive by a supervillain on her road to recovery. The show does a very good job representing her anxiety and PTSD which makes the little moments of cynical humor and even the dramatic moments that much more real.
3. Limitless
Limitless is a spin-off of the original movie that follows a user who works for the FBI and his struggle between the law and the drug.
2. The Tomorrow People
The tomorrow people follows Stephen Jameson on his quest to save the Tomorrow people, a group of humans with powers, from a government organization that seeks to use them for warfare.
1. Cleverman
Cleverman is by far the best TV show I’ve watched in the past year. It has a mix of drama, humor, history, cultural struggle, societal criticism and of course some kickass fight scenes.
