Let me make something clear: Baylor kids are not scared of these athletes. Bears don't scare bears. These players are scary in the eyes of the opponent. People ask, "What are they feeding these Baylor kids?" Honestly it's simple: Miss Mei's cookies.
10. KD Cannon.
With Goodley gone, KD is probably the fastest player on the team. But it's not only his speed that is scary. If you watched the TCU game (61-58), you would know how hard this kid can hit.
9. Desmine Hilliard.
Defensive linemen cannot reach the quarterback when you have big boys like Hilliard (6'5", 340 lb) guarding him. Good luck trying to get past him!
8. Nina Davis.
First it was Brittney Griner, then it was Odyssey Sims, now it is Nina Davis. Baylor is known for producing woman's basketball stars. Davis is the worst nightmare for any opponent by the way she can attack the hoop and dish the ball.
7. Taylor Young.
Taylor (5'10", 225) is not a household name (yet). Although he is not a physically big guy, he aided the Bears in big plays last season (pick-6 in the Cotton Bowl, defensive stops vs. TCU, etc.), and is ready to lead the linebackers this year with Hager gone.
6. Corey Coleman.
Coleman is not only ferocious with his offensive abilities (led Baylor in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving TDs), but he will knock defenders off their feet if he needs to block (i.e. 2014 West Virginia game and 2013 Kansas State game)
5. Seth Russell.
RG3, Nick Florence, and Bryce Petty (BU's quarterbacks 2010-2014) are statically the three best QBs in Baylor history. Last year, he proved he has an arm (if not, better) like Petty. But what really makes him lethal is his ability to run the ball all over the defense.
4. Laquan McGowan.
The biggest player on the team weighs in around 425 lbs. while standing tall at 6-feet-7-inches. It is only his size that makes him scary, because he is always smiling. Think of him as a teddy bear that you just want to hug. And who can forget his stardom in the Cotton Bowl?
3. Andrew Billings.
Standing next to Beau Blackshear and Shawn Oakman, Billings sometimes gets overlooked. However, the 300-pound monster not only has strength, but also speed that will take down any backfield (i.e. 2014 Kansas game).
2. Rico Gathers.
The second best rebounder in college basketball has been asked why he does not play football. The answer is obvious: he loves dunking the basketball. Gathers (6'8", 275 lbs) takes what he wants. You do not want to be in his way when he goes for a dunk, lose ball, or rebound.
1. Shawn Oakman.
The memes and tweets speak for themselves: Oakman (6'9", 280 lbs) is a man among boys. As he stayed at Baylor for his senior year, he looks to lead the Bears in sacks and tackles. If you do not criticize his rolled up jersey, tattoos, helmet cage or green hair, you should be okay. Just hope you're not the ball carrier.
