This is Us is a new tv series that is emotional, relatable, and heartwarming. It has an unexpected twist that draws you in and captivates every human spirit. It's a must see tv series.
On the fourth episode, The Pool, there is a scene that reminded me of the heavenly father.
***spoiler alert if you haven't caught up yet... sorry***
Kate is one of the three children and is dealing with a little extra weight. As they go to the pool, she is wearing a two-piece bathing suit. Her mother is worried and wished her daughter would have covered up, anxious that the other kids might make fun of her. Kates father, just says it's baby weight and every kid deals with it.
Throughout this scene, Kate attempts to get the girls to play with her but instead, they shamed her, not wanting to be seen with the girl who wasn't like them.
As Kate is clothed with a towel, her dad comes to sit down beside her. He asked Kate"are you cold, where is your tee shirt?" and she simply replies, "I didn't bring one." Like any father, he came to the rescue, giving her the one he brought. Kate begins to mention how her mother hates that shirt but he disagreed saying he could be anything in the world when he wanted when he wore the worn out green Florida tee.
Kate puts on the shirt and claims that she would be a princess, smiling. Her father then reassures her saying whether she is clothed in his tee shirt or not, she will always be his princess.
***This is the good part right here***
There are times where we have messed up and are covered in our mistakes, embarrassment, and shame. We can't seem to lift our heads because we believe we are what others believe we are. A liar. A cheater. Not good enough. Fat, skinny, ugly. On and on again, we can find ourselves her, but there is hope. Our father wants to come in and rescue us in times where we can't do it ourselves. He wants to clothe us and remind us of our worth. He already sees us as beautiful, worthy, honest, and pure, but he's gracious enough to tell us again and again.
I hope you know your worth. You are a princess or a king. You are a light in this world. Your body image doesn't define you but the heart inside of you. I hope you realize that in the midst of feeling bare, you will always be clothed in christ.
