You have to stay dedicated…
Even in the face of oppression, happiness along with faith is the only way you can stay medicated. I am but one individual that has the power under God to do miracles, and lead people less fortunate into greatness. In no way did I mean to be rude, as the world seems to be getting messages misconstrued. I am but a humble human being, that believes that the best things in life are worth dreaming.
So what do you dream about?
I can sit here with a straight face and tell you that my life is perfect... but would you believe it? Or could it be that I would rather be content with others telling me stories of how cars and money will make me a happy man. That my family will respect me if I just drew up a better plan.
That life will be better if I was a better man...
So tell me, what defines you? Is it the ice on your wrist or the laces on your shoes? Is it the car that you drive or the money that you blew? Or maybe it's the fact that everything that's bought can be bought from another man too? So what does that make you? Expensive or expendable? Dependable or inconvenient? Trust me when I say the eye can reveal more than what materialistic objects can impede, and if an object consumes a man then ask yourself is a man defined by his worth... or by the label on his shirt.
But wait...Something's wrong here...
A black young successful man, and yet I still feel as if I don't belong here. My own race sees me as a trophy, an individual that owes something to someone. An individual whose only purpose in its creation is to glorify the success of another. Well brother to brother if we all strive for the right to live happily among one another, then why must my success be in vain if it came at a faster pace than you? Does my success make me a sellout because I did not follow the stereotypical "black blueprint" that society made for you? Maybe I didn't want to "make it out the hood", but create change so that the "hood" doesn't make you. Maybe I want to collaborate with other black brothers and sisters so that we can all share success instead of making it on your own, a concept that plagues black business all around the world.
Maybe I wanted to be the catalyst that sparks black minds to work as one, instead of working for the satisfaction of dealerships and jewelers. I will strive to become more than a hashtag, and I will never show my color when it's convenient to me. A true benefit is one we can all benefit from, yet a true benefit does not stem from another's success. You must find your own road to travel, but seek help when required. Like I always say, when you feel every step, then you will provide a purpose to your journey, and meaning to your destination, and that my friends is what putting your foot down stands for.
You gotta stay dedicated... but what fuels your dedication?
