Decline The Negativity, Spread The Positivity

The World needs more Optimism

With all of the negativity happening in the world, people have taken off their rose-colored glasses and replaced them with pragmatic glasses. I consider myself to be a glass-half-full type of gal. I do watch the news to stay in the know, but I am not one to continue watching the news because of the constant negativity. People need to stop focusing on the bad and pay attention to the good.

Here is the thing because it is easier to complain, people seem to complain all the time. However, if you stop and smell the roses then you would realize that things are not as bad they seem. Even if you are going through something horrible, it is not the end of the world. It might feel like you are not going anywhere with your life, but that is not true. The experiences that we go through, good or bad, they make us stronger and happier. The world needs more optimism and we need to drop the complaints and start looking at the solutions.

Dumbledore has it right. There is so much happiness in our world and our lives (for that matter), but why is it that people can be pulled back into the darkness? I think it is because of the media. The media chooses what they want to write about and how they want to write about the subject. If being biased was not an issue then people would get along. That is why people should not rely on the internet to solve their problems. There is more wisdom from people, in our lives, than the media could ever give us.

It can be hard to stay positive in a tough time, but it is possible. If you lost a family member or if you were diagnosed with a disability then you could lose sight of it all, but you cannot because the way you handle things shows the person who you will become.

There are three types of people in this world: optimists, realists, and pessimists. Optimists are happy and they believe in the power of positivity. My older brother is an optimist and so are both of my parents. They all believe that the best is yet to come. I believe that a pessimist is a pessimist for a reason and if we keep a positive attitude then a pessimist could turn into an optimistic realist. (Which they say being an optimistic realist is safest)!

Everything happens for a reason, and if something does not go the way we planned: we pout. We are human, we cannot be happy all the time because we have to allow our sadness, anger, fear and disgust emotions to show. I would love it if, our joy emotion could be the only emotion we feel, but in order to be joyful, we have to listen to our other emotions as well.

Spreading positivity is a truly wonderful gift. Everyone has positive moments. We need to stop all the negativity and complaining and remember that there is a bright side to anything.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

winter

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
