Deciding To Quit A Sport?

Are my 16 years of dance coming to an end?

I started dancing when I was just two years old, I literally wasn't even out of diapers yet. I took a class called "Mommy and Me", and I haven't stopped dancing since then.

I took regular classes until second grade, and then I joined a competitive team. I danced with that same team until the end of my eighth grade year. Then I tried out for the high school dance team. My freshman year I made the JV team, but I claimed a spot in all four of the competitive dances for the JV team.

After a year of working my butt off, I made the Varsity competitive team my sophomore year. During my time on the JV team, the Varsity team won state, which was the very first time that my high school had claimed a dance state title. Unfortunately, my sophomore year we got the state runner up title, which is still fantastic, but it wasn't what we were hoping for.

We came back even stronger my junior year, but we fell just short of another state title, instead we came home with yet another state runner up title.

Then senior year rolled around, the seniors on the team were out for blood and we made that very clear during our first practice with the team. We told the underclassmen that we were going to win state this year, no exceptions. We won all of our regional competitions and had a near perfect competition season.

Then on November 9, 2019, the Fayetteville High School dance team won the Arkansas 6A dance state title by a landslide.

We went on to a national competition for the first time ever and had both dances place in the top 20! But then that was it for me, I knew I was burnt out and didn't have much else to give in the dance world. At first, it was really hard to comprehend, but then I realized that I was probably going to love the down time.

That was until I came across an instagram page called @msu_diamondgirls, I found out that they are a dance team that only performs at the baseball games. For weeks now, I thought I was done with dance and I was fine with it. Then I saw this one little thing and it made me want to get up and start dancing immediately.

So maybe my future still has some dancing in it!

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
