From The Younique Presenter Who Doesn't Know Much About Makeup

Just because I don't know much about makeup doesn't mean I'm not willing to learn and help you learn, too!

I will be the first person to admit that I do not know very much about makeup. Growing up, my mom was never the type to wear makeup apart from eyeliner, which she always put on before leaving the house. During high school, the most makeup that I ever wore was whatever I had to wear when I was performing on stage. I reached my "peak makeup look" during the spring musical that we did during my senior year of high school, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (shown below).

(Please excuse the quality; cell phone camera technology has come a long way in only four years. I can't say the same for my selfie skills.)

In my journey into adulthood, I've ventured out into different makeup products, but primarily lipstick. Even then, I've just never put in the time and effort to become involved with makeup.

So why the heck would I sign up to be a presenter for a makeup company?!

I'll admit, it was a pretty strange thought process. It started a few months ago when I first bought some Younique lip products from a friend of mine, Sam, who became a presenter about a year ago. She was always super personable and helpful when I showed interest in a product, and I fell in love with the things that I ended up getting from her. Recently, she finally outright asked me why I hadn't joined the Younique team yet. With my general inexperience with makeup, I was quite hesitant at first. After talking things through with her, I realized that I had nothing to lose and everything to gain by joining. The worst thing that can happen is that no one buys things from me and I end up losing the money that I spent on the presenter's kit.

(This is the presenter's kit! Look at all of this awesome stuff! Photo from Younique's website.)

If nothing else, it would be an adventure into something new and unfamiliar- something that I haven't had in quite a while. And the best part is that I'm in control of how I do things. This is my business, and I can do many great things with it. I can learn and grow as a person by putting myself out there. However, I know that I'm not alone in this venture. I've only been at this for maybe a week, but I've already met a bunch of new people who are insanely supportive and positive. This just goes to show that we are all firm believers in the company and their mission, which is to empower and uplift women. And who knows, this adventure could take me farther than I could have ever imagined. At the very least, I'll be pushing my boundaries and trying something completely new, which is something I think we should all do at some point.

(Okay, maybe my selfie skills have improved a little.)

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.
