The beginning and the end

Bathe streets in glittery gold

Thousands of frigid hands,

Warmed by hearts in the freezing cold

There is laughter and joy

Decorated in balloons and confetti

The world is in an uproar

And time is almost ready

And now finally

The year begins to die

We hold each other tight,

Trying not to cry

As we say our goodbyes

We think of all that we’ve done

The love and the pain

And the bright future to come

A new life awaits us

As we depart from an old home

We look into each other’s eyes
