I was Hillary Clinton for an hour.
I debated Donald Trump for an hour.
And this is what I learned.
As I introduced myself as Secretary Hillary Clinton, I could see the eyes of fellow JSAers looking deep into my political ideologies, and scathing every little scandal that swept through my thirty years as a politician.
I stand tall, with 300 eyes staring at me, waiting for a chance to roast my policy or my life thus far.
As the moderator recites questions, I get to feel the same emotion and stress a real politician would, to be in the hot seat, all eyes on you, with desperate hopes you poll high enough.
I learned at this Fall One Day- Mock Election that every little thing you say, will have a great impact on your voters, and that you must adjust your policies to the needs of the public. \
Secretary Clinton received several remarks regarding her policies and how they have changed throughout the course of her time being in the star- spangled spotlight, but rebutted the snide remarks with tending to the needs of the nation.
At the end of this mock election, Hillary Clinton won the popular vote, putting into perspective how the youth of America’s minds work and how wise and aware they are when legitimate information is presented to them.
This unique opportunity to speak as Hillary Clinton opened my eyes into the career I wish to be in, molding the minds of America’s youth, being the change our nation is desperate to see, and to be a role model to young women and men as their generation leads the free world. And yes, in fact, Hillary Clinton is a role model, demonstrating respect, dedication, experience and compassion with everything she pursues, never failing to meet help meet the needs of those in distress.
I started out how most young democrats did; being a full on Bernie Sanders supporter, but as the election continued, and my knowledge expanded, I knew I needed to take a side, and not be another abstention. I care for the future of this nation, because this nation and everything it stands for hopefully will be a part of my future.
Through my journey to begin to accept the fact that Hillary was the one I supported, I finally learned this; One should not be afraid to speak their mind and back the person they find most fitting for any job. One should not care what their friends may think about their political ideologies, because if they were real friends, the would accept you in all aspects of self expression.
