A heated debate among students and families has been going on since both Qdoba and Chipotle have opened and still going on to the this day.The first established was Chipotle. It was became a restaurant in 1993 but only two years later Qdoba was created. Now both are beloved and competition arises. It has escalated to a point at where arguments have actually begun about which one is better.
Nutrition-wise, Qdoba has many healthy options including wheat tortillas, brown rice, chicken, steak, veggies, pico de gallo, corn salsa, and lettuce. Besides those options they also offer many other meats, guacamole, sour cream, and cheese.
Qdoba stands out compared to Chipotle because they offer a queso that has an abundance of flavor. Although the price at Qdoba is a little less, many people still believe it’s still a little bit over priced.
For a burrito or burrito bowl, the price is about $8 and may go up depending on the toppings that are added on. Guacamole at both venues is about the same price and costs the consumer about $2 extra.
Chipotle, however, is still very strong competition. When ordering at Chipotle there is an array of options to choose from including flour tortilla, white or brown rice, chicken, steak, sour cream, salsa, lettuce, cheese, and pico de gallo.
Chipotle has preached about how they use only fresh ingredients and they do not substitute their food with other subpar food. To some, this sets them apart because consumers like to know that they are eating fresh food that is good for them. In order to get this fresher food though the consumers must pay a little extra. An average price for a burrito at Chipotle is about $8.50 and then increases as toppings are added.
This debate regarding Chipotle vs. Qdoba has been going on for a long time and it is still growing and becoming more controversial. In my opinion, I am a bigger fan of Chipotle because I think it tastes more authentic but I can understand why people like Qdoba.
