Recently there was another shooting...doesn't it make you question when all this violence is going to stop? When I woke up on Friday morning to the news saying "Dallas Sniper Attack", it makes me scared because before this happened, the deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile by police officers were on the news. Parents used to tell their children, "Police are there to help you," or "Respect the police," now I hear parents tell their children, "Just do what they say and don't move closer or farther," or "Watch how you look in specific places and watch your back". Parents are worried about their childrens' lives, especially because of all the shootings that have been happening in The United States.
Everyone keeps saying the same line, "We need to change the way the police act," and "No one else needs to die," but no one is going to stop this because they are afraid that they will get killed. Lin-Manuel Miranda said, "Love is love is love is love is love is love is love cannot be killed or swept aside," he wasn't wrong with that line; it's not just about someone's sexuality, religion, or identification of someone. Lin-Manuel Miranda was talking about everything from race to choice in lifestyles, which is sad because we need to love each other. There hasn't been day that I haven't stopped mourning for all the families that are losing people because of someone's ignorance. No one truly understands why this keeps happening, all they keep doing is blaming someone else each time.
When it came to the Pulse shooting, I felt more afraid than anything knowing that a regular customer shot up his place of safety, but due to his lifestyle, he had to "redeem" himself to God. It is turning into a dangerous world out there and the only thing people usually do is take out their phones and record it for everyone to see, but why don't you let someone else record the moment and help the person that is getting hurt. I know I want this to end so I won't be afraid for my friends' lives if we are all hanging out together.
This needs to stop!
These deaths are getting more out-of-hand each time, Alton Sterling was shot five times in Louisiana, yet he was cooperating with LSP but of course because he is darker than them, they have the ignorant idea that he will fight back. They killed him, they killed another man that is a father to a young adolescent, giving the son a million reasons not to respect the police. Philando Castile, was just being a good father. He was only 32 years old and all he cared about was his daughter, he didn't care what was going to happen next, but in the end. Now the four year old will grow up without a father.
Look at what happened in Dallas. Five police officers were killed by a military veteran that served for this country in Afghanistan. Micah Xavier Johnson was known in that moment as "the lone gunman." So main question after all of this, when and how will the violence end?
