Thank you for everything.

A Letter To My Parents
Jessie Brand

I'd like to think that without my parents and my amazing upbringing that I would not be the person I am today. I accredit a lot of my successes and my personality to them, which is why I felt the need to write them a letter, so here it goes:

Dear Mom & Dad,

First off, Hi. I'm doing great at school and I really am loving it, not just fake loving it like most students. I'd like to thank you for helping me with the skills I needed to get this far in my educational career. I know the sacrifices you have given to help me advance this far and attend the school I truly do love. In no way would I have ever imagined myself attending college in NYC, but that's thanks to you guys.

You have always installed a few things into my mindset. Always be kind to others, work your hardest, and don't take anyone's crap. You have taught me to accept and love myself for my flaws and perfections. Growing up, you always supported me and my dreams-whatever they were at that point and time. If it cost money, you somehow made ends meet to help me do the things that I desperately wanted to do. I want to thank you for all of that and much more, but this time a little more individually.

Mom- thank you for being my bestfriend.

You are always there for me, whether it be me being upset or me just wanting to see the dogs on FaceTime. You give me your advice and opinions but are in no way overbearing which I really respect. You are one of the sweetest people I have ever known, although that may be a bias opinion. You always know how to make me laugh, even if someone has pissed me off. I know that you will always have my back and support my decisions in life. Also, can you just admit two things already, 1. you look like grandma and 2. I get my attitude from you. Thank you. I love you.

Dad- thank you for being my bestfriend.

You've always been my number one fan. When you couldn't make it to the sidelines, I knew you were cheering me on from your office or whatever job you had to do that day. I am so thankful to have such an inspirational and amazing father like you. You worked so hard for us every single day, and I thank you for that. You have provided so much for me, and the rest of the family for as long as I have known. I love watching cooking shows or The Daily Show with you, I really do. I want to thank you for your sacrifices and the adventures you have always taken me on. You really have made my dreams come true. You know how to make me laugh, and make me feel better even when I'm away at school. Thank you for everything, I love you.

To the both of you,

I appreciate the both of you so very much. Without you I wouldn't be the independent and strong woman I am today. Thank you for showing me an example of true love and hard work, I love you both so much. I hope you know that in my life I plan to attempt to repay you for all of my hard work. I strive to show you how successful I can become, because of you both.

Sincerely,

Your Daughter.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. You feel like you will have never-ending classwork to catch up on if you miss class, so you end up going sick and then it just takes longer to get better. Being sick in college is really tough and definitely not a fun experience. Here are the 15 stages that everyone ends up going through when they are sick at college.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
