Dear Future Me,
Right now, you are two weeks into the spring semester of your sophomore year. The Mid-Western weather is its usual unpredictable self and the person who drives your complex shuttle is as wild as ever. While you're excited about classes, you are silently dreading J2100. It's one of most difficult prerequisite journalism classes at Mizzou and it has definitely require some major changes from the previous semester. However, being the "oh-so-positive" person that you are, you are trying your hardest to stay motivated and on top of things. Outside of the academic world, life is... well, it's going as much as it can right now.
Enough about me though. What about you? If your life is anything the way I hope and dream it to be, I absolutely applaud you. Playlists that are still bomb, a job at a major publication and/or graduate school, a gorgeous loft (because, no matter what, the city always calls out to you), a passport used so often it's worn around the edges, a healthier lifestyle, an adorable dog, and (most importantly) a business plan in the works to make that dream of running your own magazine come true ... Simply thriving.
I know that none of those things are impossible to achieve, but some days, it feels like nothing can be done. Life, both in and out of school, can be overwhelming and it makes me question how many goals of mine I can actually reach. I don't say this to upset you; I say it to remind you that, even on rough days, I continue to keep you in mind. I've had an image of you in my mind for so long that I know I have to do everything in my power to make sure it becomes reality.
With that being said, I'll be waiting patiently for you and I hope that one day you can look back at this and think "Wow. I did it."
