“Dearest Clementine” by Lex Martin is about a female college student named Clementine Avery. When Clementine swears off dating for good when she finds out that her high school boyfriend cheated on her. Clementine signs up for a romance writing class. Gavin Murphy, the Resident Assistant, band member and newspaper reporter is more than happy to help when Clementine gets an assignment that she can’t complete without more experienced help.
Clementine’s best friends do crazy and supportive things throughout the book that could easily relate to my own best friends. Such as when I need help with something they are always there just like Clementine’s best friends are when her high school boyfriend cheats on her. Gavin and Clementine come together with their friends in tow to make a humorous novel with romance throughout.
This dialogue and actions between the characters made this book funny enough that I laughed extremely hard. Clementine is a Heroine you can easily relate to.
However, I did think towards the end the story was wrapped up quite rapidly.
What I also love about this series is that each book is different, you don’t get the same story-line and the steam level is kicked up a notch with each book you read.
In "Finding Dandeline," there’s a jock, named Jax, who turns out to be a player with the ladies. Dani, a friend of Clementine in book 1, is a sweet girl who has a one-night stand with Jax. Dani realizes Jax is Clementine’s brother and Clementine is Dani’s suite-mate. This book definitely shows the reader what could possibly happen when you head off to college. This is also a good read for anyone who enjoys college romances.
In "Kissing Madeline," the main characters are older and the story is set after college. Daren is drafted into the NFL and Madeline is a reporter. The chemistry between Madeline and Daren is very interesting to read because of the tension. Madeline wants to focus on her career but Daren wants her even though she wants nothing to do with him. Daren does everything he can to have Madeline to himself.
"Kissing Madeline" is a good story for anyone to read if they like sports/ romance novels.
The Dearest Series is a wonderful series to read. The books don't have to be read in order but it is recommended as the characters do overlap.
