Dear Best Friend,
You don’t know this but you came into my life when I needed you the most. I needed more than just the average friend, I needed a best friend, I needed you. In the beginning, we simply did not know how close we were going to get or how fast we would grow our friendship. You know more about me than anyone. You probably know me better than I know my own self. We finish each other’s sentences and know each other’s Starbucks order, and that alone deserves some recognition.
You have seen it all; the good, the bad, and the ugly. You were there when I graduated high school, you were there when I needed a good laugh, and you were always there when I needed you most. You have seen me cry my ugliest cry and you have seen me laugh until I started snorting like a pig. We dreamed of traveling the world together and then we actually did. We strolled the streets of St. Maarten; we snorkeled with the fish and turtles of St. Thomas. We have many inside jokes that nobody understands. You are the Blair to my Serena. Our adventures were made of Barberito’s dates and dancing ridiculously in my car to Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, Andy Mineo, and even Backstreet Boys. I wouldn’t trade those memories for the world or the winning Powerball ticket.
My dear best friend, what I love most about our friendship though is how we push each other closer to Jesus. Our friendship is based on Christ and encouraging each other daily to be more like Christ. In times of need, we point each other back to scripture rather than the opinion of the world. We give each other reality checks when we know one of us is losing our minds.
My family has become your family and your family has become mine. Our parents expect us to stay at each other’s houses when we see each other. It’s just a given fact. Through our extremely close friendship, we have formed something better. Yes, we are each other’s best friends but we are also family. You have become my sister. Nothing will EVER change that.
You know everything about me. You know how weird I am, and we all know how weird I can get, and yet you still love me. I know how corky you are and I still love you. We embrace the weirdness together. I could call you at 3 a.m. and tell you the dumbest thing but I would always know you would pick up regardless, knowing I would do the same.
The day we met I knew we would become close, but I never imagined I would become this close to you. You mean way more to me than you think. You are someone I confide in, someone I trust, and someone I care for. You’ve been with me at my best and at my worst, that’s how I know you will always be by my side.
Best friend, you know who you are, thank you for everything. Thank you for being more than my best friend. Thank you for being something bigger. Thank you for being my sister.
Love,
Your Best Friend
