From Childhood To Adulthood, Thank You Walt Disney
Cassidy Allen

Dear Walt Disney,

Thank you so much. You brought so much magic and happiness into this world. Not only that, but you brought me my childhood. You have instilled hope and imagination among the world. Children and adults alike have been touched by your work. On some of my darkest days, I have been able to make it through simply due to watching your movies.

Your stories encourage friendship, family, hope, love, dreams and so much more.

I recently spent a day at your parks and came back feeling refreshed and happier than ever. Just being in the environment that you helped create brought tears of happiness to my eyes. I saw people from infant, to adult, to elder forget about their worries and have an amazing time. I saw myself and my friends relax and not think about any of the bad things in the world.

I know that you'll never know the impact you have had on this world, but I wish you could. You've given the entire world things to bond over. You've given us a safe place to go where everyone is happy and carefree.

During my day at the park, I saw so many magical moments. As little kids met their heroes- whether that be Cinderella, Donald Duck, or Mickey Mouse, I could see the life in their eyes. It's as if at that moment, they could do anything. It's an incredible feeling seeing that, and remembering being there yourself. I recall meeting Pluto when I was only 3 years old, and he took my signature book and signed it on top of his head. It will always be such a magical moment that I remember.

Through your work and inspiration has come so many things that you probably could have never imagined. Every night there are firework and projection shows at your parks. Currently, the show is called Happily Ever After. As the area before the castle filled up, I was excited to see the fireworks and projections. However, I was not prepared for the depth of this show. It made me incredibly emotional, and tears were definitely shed.

The show features many Disney and Pixar characters in the projections. It brings back so many memories and happiness as you watch it. While playing 'You'll Be In My Heart" they show scenes of characters celebrating and hugging, and I bawled. Halfway through, Mufasa appears in the projection and speaks. 'I Can Go The Distance' begins to play and they show triumphant moments from many of the movies. I immediately got emotional. This is one of the incredible things that you have made true for many people. We see the incredible endings to your movies and we know that we can do anything.

Walt, the point of this letter is to thank you. For your incredible mind, and what it has given us, which is so much more than awesome movies.

Love,

A life long Disney fan.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

winter

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
