Dear Trump Supporters

A letter to those that voted for the next President of the United States, you have a job to do.

Dear Trump Supporters,

With your vote aiding in crowning Donald Trump as the next US President, you have a new job. People are scared for what the future holds for their families, friends and themselves. They are scared to leave their homes, walk on their college campuses and be a part of their community because they no longer feel accepted in our country. Trump was elected to "Make America Great Again". You voted for him to lead our country to where you believe it should be. This choice however assigned you a new role.

In less than a twenty four hour span of time, your fellow Americans have been harassed. They have been told to go back where they came from. They have been told time is up. They have been told that they are unwelcome because of race, religion, and identity. The ugly, dark history of the US is starting to come back into the light.

Your new job is to not tell those weeping and protesting to grow up. Your new role is to show them that you are not what they assume you are. That you are not racist, that you are not homophobic, that you are not xenophobic or Islamophobic,. It is your job to use your voice for those that are scared. To comfort them and give them faith that Donald Trump's America is not the America we all fear. Don't tell people that you do not hide behind the prefix "phobia" to pretend that hatred doesn't seep from your very soul. Show them. Show them that you want a better future for your family, friends, yourself and all of your fellow Americans.

Trump supporters are assumed to desire a white, heterosexual, Christian America. You are equated with hatred toward inclusion, acceptance and diversity. You are associated with division and not togetherness. Show them that you are not these things.

You may have faced the wrath of simply displaying what you believe in. You may have felt fear. You may have been concerned for your safety. Maybe you still are.

Take those feelings and remind yourself that people feel this way all because of Donald Trump.

Give everyone scared a reason to have hope for our future. Give them a reason to give Trump a chance.

Your job has gone past voting. That job is done. This job of compassion and understanding is the job that is now placed in your hands.

Give us faith in our America. Give us faith that we belong.

This is the job that you have taken now. This is what it means to be a "Trump Supporter".

This is beyond policies and voting.

This is about upholding your morals and coming to the aid of your fellow Americans in a time of need.

As Martin Luther King Jr once said" Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.

Give light and love in faith of truly united states.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.
