Dear people with allergies,

If you struggle hardcore with seasonal allergies, you and I are in the same boat. It may sound boring and unimportant to others, but as you know allergies are no easy task to overcome. Pollen has hit Johns Creek hard this week, along with many other southeastern states as I have come to discover. Since it was spring break this week, I ended up going to Tallahassee, FL to go visit FSU, then back to Georgia, and then onto Arkansas. This whirlwind of traveling destroyed any chance of me avoiding the death sentence of pollen. The constant runny nose, congestion in the head, nose and lungs, itchy eyes and endless sneezing. However, using medicine and a few natural remedies helped ensure that the struggle-bus of allergies wouldn’t be so bad during these trips. A few of my favorite medically-induced methods are to take a Sudafed every 4 hours (as prescribed), and then taking a Benadryl at night to help you sleep and wake up a little more refreshed. However, if you don’t like taking a ton of pills some natural remedies include…

  • Putting Vick’s Vapor Rub on your chest and on your nose to clear your breathing pathway
  • Taking a tablespoon of raw honey everyday
  • Taking a very warm shower for the steam
  • Taking a bath infused with a bath bomb or bath oil of a lavender or eucalyptus scent
  • Getting a diffuser and putting lavender, tea tree or eucalyptus oil

Although there’s no way to completely avoid horrific seasonal allergies, these natural and medicinal methods are pretty much guaranteed to help you get through it.

If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
