Dear Seniors,
First off, congratulations. You have made it through four years of schooling. You may know who I am, but you might not. I'm a junior. I've been a year behind you since we were born. I am so happy that you have been here as a role model. I have learned so much from you, whether from your triumphs or your mistakes. As much as I appreciate you, I'm happy that you're graduating.
I know that sounds mean, but it's now my time to shine. I've been watching you take the cap and gown pictures, have countdowns to graduation, and while I've had my own, yours is always less. You get to take your finals early. Officially throw away all your old notes. Sell your books. Move out. Move that tassel from left to right.
But, even though I'm jealous of you, don't think that I don't appreciate you. You have taught me so much throughout all of these years. You have shown me how to be a senior. How to make the right choices, and avoid the wrong ones. You might not have noticed these small things, but you've helped me be a better student and a better person.
I wish you all the best in life. I hope that you all get those jobs that you want. Have happy marriages and beautiful weddings. Apartments in the city with beautiful views. Get into the school of your choice. I hope, just like the rest of the school, that you're futures are bright and that you have all of your dreams come true.
I hope that you come back to visit and see the legacy that you have left at school. It can be in a few months, my graduation, alumni day, or even your 10-year reunion. I hope that you don't just write off all of us because we have been your biggest supporters throughout your four years.
Although I am happy for you, I'm glad that you're leaving. This is now my time to shine. I get to make the senior presentations. I get to leave a legacy. I get to take the cap and gown pictures. I get to be role models to those that are younger than me.
I thank you for showing me the ropes, but I think that I'm now ready to fly.
